Introducing Desk Diaries

It started when I was in high school.

My desk was the place I spent most of my time. In the past, my kitchen table sufficed. It was close to the snacks and breezy windows, after all. But the older I became, the more attached I grew to the desk in my bedroom. I spent more and more time writing essays, stories, and poetry there. It was where I could be my most creative, truest self.

Capturing the writer’s lifestyle is something I’ve been doing online for years, and over time, I’ve grown especially attached to the part of writing that is my desk. There’s just something so personal about where a person creates art. My desk content has always been one of my top-performing and favorite creations, so now, I’m officially making it a series here on my blog called Desk Diaries.

The plan? This series will first live on Threads (where other diary-style content is thriving), where I will share snaps of my desk and what I’m doing at it, from writing, gaming, snacking, decorating, etc. Then I will compile my favorites here on my blog and go more in-depth about what I’ve been up to each month. Any other desk-related content will nestle here, too. Think cozy, slow desk time with the writer & hobbyist in mind.

What sets this series apart from others is an even more personal touch: handwritten notes. I’ve been sharing handwritten prose and accents on my Instagram feed and Stories since 2017, so it feels like a natural progression to add them to my desk photos. Oddly enough, doodling on my digital pictures has helped me feel more connected to them and my creative process as well. It’s been a lovely little project so far, and I’m excited to create more.
