The Golden Ratio: Embracing Yellow Rompers

A few weeks ago while I was playing Persona 5, a test question popped up about the golden ratio. Being the English major and vocal Math-despiser that I am, I got this question wrong. However, I learned something I probably forgot from high school: there is a formula for creating aesthetically pleasing designs.

Now, I’m no mathematician, but when I spotted this yellow romper on Tobi’s website, the golden ratio popped into my head. It wasn’t just because of the color, obviously, but because it looked perfect to me. It was appropriately geometric: the deep v that dropped down to the high waistband, the rectangular shorts, and the triangular bell sleeves all seemed perfectly tailored and flattering. When I finally tried it on, I loved it even more.

It was all yellow ♫♪

In all honesty, it’s so far different from any other piece of clothing I own, which is why I was immediately drawn to it. It’s yellow, for starters, which was my least favorite color in the world until just a couple of months ago. I was also never brave enough to wear such a plunging neckline just because. Being a small cup size, I’ve been taking advantage of going bra-less this summer whenever possible; it’s just more comfortable!

I paired this romper with this Meghan necklace from Kendra Scott, which I received in my Rocksbox last month. I would have loved this necklace more if it was a “Megan” necklace, but I can’t have it all, right? The amber stone pairs so perfectly with the yellow romper and the best part is it’s adjustable! For this outfit, I let it hang at medium length right over my breastbone. However, you can pull it all the way back as a choker or even drop it lower. It’s so versatile.
