Ever since I started wearing makeup, I always gravitated towards nude lipsticks. While most friends my age chose bright pinks and soft reds, I reached for browns, taupes, and soft peaches. I loved them on Julia Louis Dreyfus in Seinfeld and on Michelle Pfeiffer in One Fine Day and I wanted to be as naturally beautiful as they are. Wearing nude lipstick seemed to be part of the secret.
As far as everyday, daytime looks are concerned, I have always appreciated the “your lips, but better” look. It is especially my favorite in the colder months. During the summer, I admit I’m partial to coral, but there’s something about a brown-ish pink lip I’ve always loved.
Thus began my mission to try as many different nude lipsticks in various finishes as possible.
The brown and the beautiful
So far, there have been a few go-to favorites I’ve tried over the past few years. I love Stila’s Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks in “Carmello” and “Dolce.” They have a hint of sparkle and last for hours.
As far as matte pigment goes, I love Maybelline’s Color Sensational Inte-Matte Lipstick in “Raw Chocolate.” Their whole Sensational nude line has so many bold nudes and they’re all gorgeous. The trick is finding the perfect shade to compliment your skin color. With a wide range like theirs, that shouldn’t be a problem!
I adore NYX’s Butter Lipstick in “Tan Lines” and RealHer’s Lipstick in “I Love Myself” for their moisturizing qualities. Sometimes, with quick-drying lipsticks, I find myself putting on a layer of balm first and then the lipstick on top. However, these two products are all you need!
Lorac’s Hydrating Lip Stains in “Secret Agent” and “Comedienne” are great for their convenience. They are hydrating like a balm but pack a punch pigment-wise; a win/win!
Whatever finish you prefer, there’s a lipstick here I’m sure you’d love! Which nude lipsticks do you like the most?

I received the Stila, Lorac, and RealHer lipsticks complimentary for review. I purchased the NYX and Maybelline lipsticks myself.
